Intrepid Adventures of Women Explorers In Print

Exciting News! As well as exhibiting a selection of my lino prints alongside many of the finest printmakers in the country in this tenth anniversary exhibition at Rheged, I will also have a special showcase feature in the exhibition.

The experimental work shown focuses on using print to tell the stories of amazing Victorian Women Explorers on paper and textiles. This exhibition  features just two of the many explorers I am featuring in my prints, Mary Kingsley explorer and ethnographer and Margaret Fountaine traveller, diarist and lepidopterist.

The stories are told with large lino prints, monoprints and screen prints combined with machine embroidery. Some of the fabric has been made into garments. On show will also be sketchbooks, samples and lino plates showing my research and the print process.
