About Me
I am an artist and printmaker based in beautiful Cumbria, working from my garden studio looking out on the river and fells with nature and landscapes all around to inspire me. I made my first lino print of an otter at school and later continued with printmaking within my textile degree course at Central St Martins.
Themes within my prints are mainly from nature and the landscape, birds, animals and plants which I like to also add to with folklore tales and historical research which I use to also inspire my visual drawings and prints. I love researching old stories of nature and the weather from a time when we were more in tune with our surroundings, and I like to pass these often-quirky facts onto the customers with information on the back of my cards and prints. This interest in nature was started when I was very young by my mum who taught me all about nature and the names of plants and trees on walks in the countryside.

I have been lucky enough to have had a varied and interesting career alongside selling my own art- starting with a career in industry designing fabrics and ceramics for M and S and high street stores. I worked as a tutor at Leicester Print Workshop while living in the East Midlands and lead on many large community print projects with them and other partners. I also had my own business for many years running large Arts projects working with schools, community groups and various organisations such as local councils, Lincolnshire Fashion Academy and museums and festivals throughout the East Midlands.
Moving to Cumbria in 2018, a place I always loved since visiting as a child, and somewhere I can in the words of one of my prints, ‘Head to the Hills’ daily, has inspired a range of outdoor pursuit themed prints.
I have developed links with Lancaster University where i am working on a research project about Victorian Women Explorers, telling there stories through print and embroidery.
I am a member of Cumbria Printmakers and Green Door Artists and exhibit with them regularly in the area as well as selling in galleries and shops in Cumbria and attending craft and art fairs to sell my work.
‘As a printmaker there is always something magical about rolling ink onto the lino plate, putting the work in a press and seeing the design revealed!’
